Captured Winning Moments

Photography is becoming increasingly popular, as various models of cameras are made more available in the market. Enthusiasts use it as an avenue to express themselves, to make a statement, or simply to share their view of the world. And here in our company, we have our very own Rizalenio, who not only showcased his works to the world, but also made us proud as his masterpiece beat those of his contenders.

His love for photography grew from experiences when he was still young. He remembers staring at all the photos in his father’s monthly subscriptions of National Geographic and Reader’s Digest. He was initially a painter, capturing through watercolor or oil the inspiring images around him, his usual subjects being sunset and seascapes. Now, he freezes the beauty of nature through SLR.

Recently, Rizalenio joined our company’s Photography Club where he gained photography tutors and mentors from different departments. When he learned how to use the manual mode, he said, “I never looked back using the other shooting modes” because “manual mode is like painting—you can adjust the colors of your photographs based on the settings of your camera.”

Eventually, he brought photography in friendship climbs with our Mountaineering Club. Here, he met new friends and captured wonderful photos which he later submitted to Lonely Planet’s mosaic competition.

Over 130,000 photos were collated from around the world, and Rizalenio’s entry was selected as one of the finalists. As one of the top photographers in Lonely Planet, he said, “In a way, [it is] representing our country and showing them the beauty of our islands and the smiles of our people.”

He graduated with a degree in Journalism and is also into oil painting.

Written by one of our company’s writers from HR. I removed some info for discretion purposes, and I changed my real name to Rizalenio (for a more Rizalenio blogger feel).
Photos above are also part of the current Lonely Planet's Mosaic.

  1. Great, Rizalenio! I do not know what to admire first: those gorgeous sunsets, the wonderful costumes of the festival or the blue tones of the boat and sky! It is great to have them all under my eyes, when we have a cloudy day here right now. Thanks!
